10 Youtube Climbing Channels worth Watching

Hours can be spent on YouTube searching for climbing videos. In the end, inevitably as always, the tangent jumps from climbing, to sweet and cuddly designer cats in an instant...

To help save your time, I've put together a (rather cliche) top 10 list of the best climbing channels worth watching. As always, I am happy to add to the blog, let me know if I've missed any gems!

Which are the best Youtube Climbing Channels?

10 of my favourite Youtube Climbing Channels

Day in Nature

HD format with stunning backdrops

After following a link via UKC forums, to the tune of "Fastest rock climbing", I quickly became addicted to the videos these guys produce. The main character (I forget her name!) has a friendly aura that quickly immerses you into their surroundings and travelling adventures. Stunning backdrops and HD recording all add to the experience.

Day in Nature also produce a handful of training videos, with a certain tongue in cheek, fun vibe.

Petzl RocTrip (Petzl Sport channel)

World class climbers and amateurs alike come together to star in these wonderfully edited and creative snippets, from the Petzl RocTrips.

RocTrip videos always seem to inspire me to get out in the World and explore new climbing destinations (In reality getting the time away from work to do this is impossible). The team capture you into the screen and welcome you into a community of climbers from all corners of the Globe.

Exotic destinations and funky soundtracks

Sharma Channel

Hard climbing makes good entertainment

Most will have heard of Chris Sharma, one of Americas top climbers. This funky and fast paced channel follows Chris on road trips, workshops and various shenanigans. Watching him working some of the hardest climbs in the World is awe inspiring!

Eric Karlsson Bouldering

I found this channel while looking for climber training videos. Eric and his team produce videos ranging from beginner bouldering tips on footwork and hand placements, to intense circuit workouts.

Training ideas for climbers

Predominantly based around indoor climbing, Eric Karlssons Bouldering channel has a wealth of unique tips for hardcore training enthusiasts. This one is fairly new to me, so I am slowly working through the library of videos.

Fen Bogel

Although esoteric, a cinematic channel dedicated to Rock Climbing Crag Tours, Alpine and mountain footage. Local guides and drone air footage from around Europe and the UK. Often good chilled and fresh tunes accompany these mini video masterpieces. Definitely worth a look at! Maybe the relaxation break you need?

On the Roofs

To add a curve ball to my list, let me mention "On the Roofs". A group who specialise in a sport of tower climbing.

Follow them (undercover of course!) while they recce out construction sites hosting massive skyscrapers being built. Climbing only the largest and scariest towers, I challenge anyone not to get sweaty palms watching these videos.

The collection of uploads isn't huge on this channel. What interests me here are the stunning, HD backdrops and cool editing.

Adrenaline fuelled tower climbing

Mani the Monkey

Dedication to progression

Mani the Monkey is another climber training guru who almost seems to be dedicated to V logging as much as climbing.

Think of something climber training related...

...ok now think of some other grueling training method.

I bet everything you just thought up, Mani the Monkey has made a video of it!

Nate Murphy

Follow Nate on his travelling adventures, including areas close to home (for us here in the UK), to Yosemite National Park in the USA.

This certain video shows the struggles of Nate and his novice climbing girlfriend as they attempt a big wall ascent. His channel also includes many mini series on 'van life' and the troubles found on the way. From his tips and tricks we can all learn something (or laugh in hindsight).

Vanlife Diaries and Climbing adventures

Average Climber

With nearly 2,000 subscribers, Average Climber certainly has gained a following.

From bouldering to big Mountain ranges

Watch the adventures of the average climber, his niche: a vegan and a diabetic. This channel is fairly new to me, so I will let the videos do the talking.

Team BMC

Last but not least I have to add BMC TV to my list. Respect is due for their safety videos for starters and not to mention the countless other videos and live streaming of competitions for our benefit. The BMC do a lot of good work here in the UK, their channel is a great hub for us to stay updated.

It's been harder making this list that I first thought it would be. I'm not a massive youtuber by any means and I fully expect my list to be superseded by the internet giants.

Ironically, while exhausting my channel list at number 6 (!), I did a quick Facebook plea and Google for more channels. I sighed with horror as I saw at the number 1 spot in Google, "Climber channels dot com"!

Sh@t!

The one channel I would love to see added to this list however, is a 'gear testing' hub, similar to the videos DMM make (although I couldn't find a channel for them). Please speak out if you know of one!

I'd also like to see more channels dedicated to climbers and their local area. It would be nice when visiting a new bouldering area for example, to get some beta on the sector locations and climbs. Sometimes it's fun walking around in circles looking for rock outcrops, sometimes it's not (after a 3 hour drive, hungover).

More videos aimed towards the low/mid grade climber wold be nice aswell. It does put me off as a punter to see "watch Jonny X climb F7C++". What if you can't climb F6C FFS!!
